In 2018, Google launched Google Posts Insights, a way to see how many views and clicks a Google Post within Google Business Profiles received. Google discontinued and sunset that feature in January 2023. Now, it seems Google is testing bringing back the view count - it now calls "people viewed."
Muhammad Hussain spotted this being tested and posted about it on LinkedIn - he wrote, "Google Business Profile posts are now showing view counts. Does this show up on everyone's dashboard? I don't see it on my side, but a friend in my connection share it with me."
Here is that screenshot:
I personally do not see the "people viewed" count on my end either, so this must be a limited test.
Google also recently added view counts to photos and videos, which also was in the old Google Business Profiles Insights.
I am really not sure why Google removed the Google Posts Insights feature in the first place, but I am glad Google is bringing it back in some way. I mean, impressions are good, but I want to know clicks too, if you get my drift.

Update: September 10th, Google officially posted about this over here saying:
Now, you can see exactly how many times local customers viewed your posts, taking the guesswork out of which offers and updates resonate best with your audience. What you can track:- Rolling 18-Month Insights: Review performance metrics across posts published over the past 18 months.
- All Post Types Included: Track views across regular updates, special offers and events.
- Cross-Platform Reach: See aggregated views from customers discovering your business on both Google Search and Google Maps.
A few weeks ago, we covered how you can now view your Google Posts view counts (a feature that once was, and now came back), Google just announced it today - story updated at https://t.co/czXnYGSmpA pic.twitter.com/8BzOlNCNy7
