Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Search Buzz Video Recap: Google Algorithm Update, Mobile-First Indexing Notices, Bing AMP & More
We reported this morning that Google may be doing an algorithmic update, so check in on your rankings. Google said they launched close to 2...
  • Google Search Algorithm Shifts Around September 19th?
I am seeing some chatter, nothing too insane, around a Google search algorithm update around September 19th or so. There is 100% some chatter in the SEO communities and some of the automated tracking tools are showing fluctuations as well. I don't think this is too big or maybe something is brewing?
  • Google Tests Auto-Expanding People Also Ask Box
Google may be testing auto-expanding, auto-loading, the people also ask box so that it opens by default, without having to click on anything to expand it. Normally, the people also ask box is closed and to see the contents within it, you need to click on it to expand it. Not in this test.
  • Google Mobile First Indexing Migrations Not Done - Will Takes Years
I know there were tons of sites that got notifications that their sites migrated to the mobile-first indexing process this week. But Google is far from done. Google said currently sites being migrated are pretty equivalent on the desktop compared to mobile page side.
  • Bing Finally Adds AMP To Search Results
Bing has finally added AMP to the news section of the search results. So now, if you site comes up in Bing search news and if it is AMP and if you are in the United States searching, you may see the AMP lightening bolt next to those stories and when you click on the story, you will get served the AMP version.
  • Google Celebrates Mister Rogers On 51st Anniversary
Today on Google's home page is a video Doodle for the 51st anniversary of Fred Rogers show, Mister Rogers. Pretty much every kid I know in the 60s through the 90s grew up watching this show in the United States.
  • Google Camp Site On Campus
Here is a photo I found on Instagram of someone sitting at the GooglePlex, main Google campus, by what looks like a mock or fake camp site. You can see the tent, wood fire, camp chairs and more.
