Google Switzerland posted on Google+ a picture of these men playing the alphorn or alpenhorn or alpine horn outside of the Google office there. I am not sure why, what the occasion was, but they posted on Google+ "Meanwhile, at the office..." So I guess, just an ordinary day?
These were used by mountain dwellers in Switzerland and elsewhere. Similar wooden horns were used for communication in most mountainous regions of Europe, from the French Alps to the Carpathians.
