Google Gum Ball Machine Without Gum Balls

Richard Hay from Google shared a picture of one of the Google Gum ball machines without any gum balls. There may be a gum ball theft at Google, so I guess the Google security team is busy at work. I wonder if eating Google gum balls implants a temporary tracking device to better improve Google's location aware technology?

Richard posted the picture on Google+ and said "Except there is no gum."
