Last week we reported that Google's update for the Google My Business iOS app caused a serious bug that didn't allow iOS users to open the app. Google quickly pulled down the update and removed the app from the app store, this way those who didn't update the app could still use the old version.

Late on Friday, Google confirmed the issue and posted a message in the Google My Business Help forum saying they submitted a fix to Apple and it has to go through the Apple review process. Once it is reviewed, the new version will be available. Google expects Apple to post the version sometime early this week.

Here is a quote from Google:

We have identified an issue with the latest release of the iOS version of the Google My Business app. Users have reported that, under certain circumstances when upgrading from a previous version, the app crashes in the process of opening, rendering further use impossible. We have already submitted a fix to iTunes, which will be available as soon as Apple has reviewed and approved it. We hope that it will become available early next week (the week of April 11). In the meantime, we have withdrawn version 2.3 from iTunes. We will provide an update when the improved version is available in iTunes.

Truth is, if the app had enough usage, Google could request an expedited review. They may have done that but the timing of the bug, right before the weekend, isn't great. Pulling the app was the right thing to do.

Update: Monday, April 11th, a new version was posted to the App store that fixes the issue.
