Gertrude Jekylls 174th Birthday Google Logo

Today on the Google home page is a special Google logo, Doodle, for Gertrude Jekyll, a British horticulturist, garden designer, artist, and writer. She has designed over 400 gardens throughout Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States and to remember her contributions, Google has given her a Doodle today.

She was born in London on November 29, 1843 and passed at the age of 89 on December 8, 1932.

Google said:

Today’s Doodle was created by British artist Ben Giles. Giles unites the hot and cool colors the horticulturist favored to create a lush and brilliant garden collage. From the corner of the illustration, Jekyll watches her garden grow.

You can learn more about her life on Wikipedia.
