Cyrus Shepard posted on Twitter that not all the emoji characters were gone, that he was able to bring up a hazard sign directly in the Google search results.
This only shows up on select browsers, I was able to replicate it using Safari on Mac, for a search on [http://instagram.com/igotmodzz/]. The character is ⚠️ and it renders on some browsers.
Google supposedly killed off Emojis from displaying in the search results this weekend.

I suspect Google may have possibly missed some and they will squash the remaining icons as they come across them.
