New data shows that Google is showing far more external links in its AI Overviews than before. A jump from close to 0% of AI Overviews containing external links to over 25% of AI Overviews containing external links.
Malte Landwehr posted on X data from his company, Peec AI, and wrote, "Google massively increased the number of external links within AI Overview answers."

This doesn't "feel" right to me but I think I should share this data point, because all I do now is share how Google is less likely to link out these days and this shows the opposite.

I should note that I have a small investment in Peec AI. I actually told them that I would cover their content less often because of it.
