Google Related Links Are Not AdSense Ads

This is now the third time in less than a week where I spotted a thread where someone asked if Google has launched a new ad format. A DigitalPoint Forums thread asks if something like this:

If those are a new type of Google AdSense unit. The answer is no, they are not.

Google launched Google Related Links on April 4, 2006 at http://www.google.com/relatedlinks/ for anyone who wants to place more Google results on their page, to do so.

Clicking on those links will not earn me a penny, so go do it. Google wants you to put them on your site to promote Google and I believe blend what is a Google AdSense unit and what is a non-paid Google Related Link unit. The confusion seems to be working, which leads me to believe that Google needs to make this much clearer for publishers, advertisers and seachers.
