Robert Scoble was one of the first non-Googlers to get his hands on Google Glass, he was also one of the first non-Googlers to break his Google Glass. He shared a picture on Google+ of his broken Glass.
Supposedly it is not all that uncommon. There are others also who have mentioned they broke their Google Glass in exactly the same spot.
I believe Google replaces them under warranty anyway.
I have yet to receive mine, the wait is a horror (1st world problems) but I will make sure to be careful wearing them around my kids.
