Nicky Wake

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Nicky Wake is 46 years old, lives in Summerseat, a beautiful village in the United Kingdom, in the hills outside Manchester, with her family. Nicky co-founded The UK Search Awards, The EU Search Awards, The US Search Awards and the MENA Search Awards with her husband Andy.

Recognizing people in our industry for their contributions is such an important thing to do. So for her to devote a lot of her time and resources to such a task is an amazing thing. It shows a characteristic about Nicky that is simply down right goodness. Doing awards is not an easy thing, it can lead to some being insulted or hurt but the way they set up these awards, it feels like everyone comes out with a smile.

Kevin Gibbons nominated Nicky and wrote:

In founding and running the UK, EMEA and US Search Awards, Nicky has played a huge role (both sides of the pond), to provide a great way to transparently benchmark and recognise the top work within our industry.

Nicky and her team at Don't Panic, put a ton of effort into these events, and to do such a trusted and respectable job - in let's say, what can be a skeptical industry at times, deserves great credit.

As a result of doing such a great job, in an industry she wasn't previously familiar in, Nicky's truly embraced it and brought everyone together even closer - between judges, entrants and running fantastic events which have become a favourite on any SEO's calendar.
