Wildcard Google Suggest Worked For Five Years

Feb 9, 2015 - 8:01 am 14 by

Uno WildcardRand Fishkin learned for the first time this week that you can use Google Suggest with wildcard spots within them. He posted about it on Google+ saying:

I somehow never knew, until today at #LocalUp that you could use the _ symbol to get wildcard results in Google Suggest. Hat tip to +Mary Bowling for the find!

In fact, it has been this case since 2010 and personally, I use it when I forget how popular phrases go such as:

google wildcard suggest

Well, no one could forget that one.

Of course, it comes in handy with keyword research, in fact, it comes very in handy with keyword research.

Using the underscore version, like Rand posted, doesn't always work for me, I prefer just to leave the word out.

Google Suggest Wildcard

Either way, if you never heard of this method, go at it. It is not just very useful, but can be a lot of fun.
