Google Search Console may have made a big update to its link counts. I am not sure how widespread this is, and I really don't not track the link count often. But I have reported on link counts changing here before and I am seeing a large change from June to now.
Vijay Chauhan notified me of this change on X where he posted, "Has anyone noticed any drastic decline or increase in External/Internal links numbers in the GSC report?"
So I checked, and in June 2024, after Google fixed an issue with the Search Console links report from May, I had 351,000+ links:
Now I am seeing almost 490,000 links:
That is a 40% increase in links being reported by Search Console in several months.
