Google Confirms Confirming Search Console Email Is A Bug

Did you get emails from Google confirming they are collecting impressions in Search Console for sites you verified ages ago?

You are not alone.

Gagan Ghorta shared that he was getting emails from Google saying, “Google systems confirm that on April 12, 2026 we started collecting Google Search impressions for your website in Search Console."

Seems like quite a few people have been getting the same emails.

The emails are clearly some sort of glitch in the Matrix and do not mean Google just started collecting data on impressions days ago on sites that have been verified in Search Console since who knows when.

You can clearly see that if you check your Search Console data and see data beyond April 12th.

In case you need further confirmation, Google’s John Mueller confirmed it was a bug:

Gsc Glitch

No - these messages got sent out because of a technical issue in the messaging system. It's unrelated to anything else. Sorry!
