Google announced this morning they released a new API called the Indexing API but it is only available for job posting URLs that support job schema. It is not available for other types of content.
Google said "this API allows any site owner to directly notify Google when job posting pages are added or removed." "This allows Google to schedule job postings for a fresh crawl, which can lead to higher quality user traffic and job applicant satisfaction. Currently, the Indexing API can only be used for job posting pages that include job posting structured data," Google added.

For websites with many short-lived pages like job postings, the Indexing API keeps job postings fresh in Search results because it allows updates to be pushed individually. This API can be integrated into your job posting flow, allowing high quality job postings to be searchable quickly after publication. In addition, you can check the last time Google received each kind of notification for a given URL.
What is interesting is that the API is called the Indexing API, not the job posting URL indexing API. So maybe, just maybe, it will be expanded into more things?
Remember when at Google I/O two years ago, Google mentioned the real time indexing API, we thought it was related to the live coverage carousel? We also know Google had an indexing API for app indexing.
So maybe, the Indexing API will be expanded to cover more things outside of just job posting URLs in the future? A quick way to submit things to the Google index, although Google is very quick to pick up new content anyway.
