Google AdSense announced two new privacy-focused features it is rolling out or has rolled out in European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland regions. Google AdSense has "Maximize message coverage" and "Optimize my consent message" in Privacy & messaging.

Google wrote:

Maximize Message Coverage

Google has recently launched a new account-level control designed to increase coverage for traffic eligible for personalized ads across your sites "with minimal manual effort." When this control is enabled, Google Consent Management Platform (CMP) provides fallback consent collection and automatic consent message creation. Google said "this serves as a safety net for cases where ad requests in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland are missing a TC string, such as when a CMP malfunctions or is not integrated with the TCF."

The Google help doc explains:

When you enable this setting:

  • The Google CMP will attempt to serve a fallback consent message anytime we detect missing consent in a required region. This scenario could happen if you haven't implemented a CMP in your app, the CMP is not integrated with the TCF, or if the CMP malfunctions or fails to collect an end user’s consent decision for any reason. This behavior will apply to all of your existing sites, as well as any new sites you create. The fallback consent message will be served directly from the adsbygoogle tag on your site.
  • The Google CMP will automatically create a published message for every new site in your account.

Here is an example of a European regulations messages with two buttons (Manage options, Consent):

Optimize My Consent Message

In May 2026, Google launched an "Optimize my consent message" setting to "help you get more from your Google CMP European regulations messages with less manual effort," Google wrote.

With consent optimization, your site visitors will see the consent message most likely to drive revenue based on past performance and session data. Users will either see a standard consent message, which requires user consent to serve personalized ads, or a non-blocking limited message, which allows you to reduce bounce rates and monetize immediately by relying on legitimate interest to serve limited ads. You can manage or disable optimization at any time for each European regulations message individually by locating the "Optimize my consent message" control in your message setup.

The help document says:

Consent optimization shows your site visitors the consent message that's most likely to drive revenue based on past performance and session data such as a browser or location.

When you have consent optimization turned on, Google automatically displays one of two types of messages to your site visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, and Switzerland, depending on which message is most likely to drive revenue for you.
