Google has updated the Google Ads help document for About Maximize conversion value bidding with a number of changes. The change that stood out the most was Google lowering the conversion cycles requirement from three cycles to one or two conversion cycles.
The new document reads:
For Search and Shopping campaigns, if you recently started reporting conversion value or changed the way conversion value is reported, we recommend you include the new values in the "Conversions" column and wait for 1-2 conversion cycles for your campaign to receive conversion values at a similar rate before adopting.
The old document reads:
For Search campaigns, if you recently started reporting conversion value or changed the way conversion value is reported, we recommend you include the new values in the "Conversions" column and wait for 4 weeks or 3 conversion cycles for your campaign to receive conversion values at a similar rate before adopting.
So it went from either waiting 4 weeks OR 3 conversion cycles to just waiting 1-2 conversion cycles.
There are numerous changes made to the document, including adding these four new troubleshooting documents:
- Troubleshooting performance fluctuations and changes in Search campaigns
- Troubleshooting performance fluctuations and changes in Shopping campaigns
- Troubleshooting performance fluctuations and changes in Display campaigns
- Troubleshooting performance fluctuations and changes in Demand Gen campaigns
And here is a comparison document showing the changes between the old and new version:

Google also updated this document to say:
It can take up to around 50 conversion events or 3 conversion cycles for the bid strategy to calibrate to the new objective, although it can be faster depending on the amount of conversion data present. Conversion data from previous campaigns can help drive faster results by speeding up the initial learning period required for Smart Bidding to calibrate towards your business goals.
