In early October, Google announced a major announcement around Accelerated Mobile Pages - a way to speed up the mobile web.

Well, Google's David Besbris announced "Google will begin sending traffic to your AMP pages in Google Search early next year, and we plan to share more concrete specifics on timing very soon."

Google search, on mobile, will be powered off the AMP platform sometime early next year.

David Besbris said on Google+:

Accelerated Mobile Pages are coming early next year to Google search. I'm looking forward to a faster way to read content!

I initially thought AMP will be one of the many things Google releases, pushed and then gives up on. But maybe this one will be something that lasts and transforms the web.

Also, Stacie Chan from the Google News team will be hosting a hangout to talk about AMP and Google News Publishers. More details on that at the Google News Help forum.
