Bing Turns A Profit

I am so happy to hear the news that Bing, Microsoft's search engine, finally turned a profit.

Microsoft launched Bing on June 1, 2009, over 6 years ago. And with a lot of patience and money, it finally made the turn to profitability.

Microsoft's Chief Financial Officer, Amy Hood said so in their earnings call late last week. The search engine contributed more than $1 billion to Microsoft's earnings. She said:

Search revenue increased to more than $1 billion this quarter and we passed an important milestone as our search business reached profitability.

This is great news for the industry.
