Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Google Drops Report Offensive Images From New Image Search
A week or so ago, Google launched the Google Image Search redesign. With that, they left out an important feature, the ability to report offensive images. Yesterday, I spotted a thread at Google Web Search Help with someone who complained that a SafeSearch didn't filter out an image. I was about to tell the guy to use the "report offensive image" feature but then I looked for the feature and it was gone. What I
  • Sliced Images? Can You Optimize Them For Image Search?
Sometimes web designers break up a single image into slices of images. They do this for many reasons, but the question is - can you optimize that image for image search? John from Google chimed in about that in a Google Webmaster Help thread. John basically said, when you have this situation, you want to assign the alt attribute to only of the the images and not all the additional pieces of the image. Of

The RKG Blog got official word from Google, which I confirmed, that the pink ads we have been seeing for months now are now official. Many people have recently been falling for scams that involve the Google Checkout name. There is an
  • New Google AdWords Certified Profile Links Not Working
BizWriter notified me that those who have been passing the Google AdWords Certification program have not been rewarded with a certification logo that actually works. BizWriter is one of those top experts in the AdWords Help forums. He took the new AdWords exam in order to re-certify himself and his company but the link to his profile returns an error. The error reads: Profile Unavailable The profile of this Individual is not currently available, either
  • Google To Warn Webmasters Over Dramatic Site Issues
Google announced on the Google Webmaster Central blog that they will now send out notifications via Google Webmaster Tools for a spike in site crawl issues. The warnings are called SiteNotice and are sent out when Google sees a significant increase in the number of crawl errors on a site. A crawl error can be when GoogleBot has issues access web pages. Sometimes this may be intentionally done by the Webmaster, but Google thinks it
