Google Maps LogoBeth L. from the Google Maps team posted a thread at the Google Maps Help forums asking users for feedback on the user created maps feature within Google.

Beth asked for users to post some of their ideas to improve the search functionality for Google My Maps. She explained:

We are looking into ways to improve searching for user-created maps. Today, the best way to find maps is through google search, with a site restrict for maps.google.com. For example, if you want to find maps about earthquakes, you can type site:maps.google.com earthquake. You can also use the tools regular google search provides to make your query more specific: for example you can look for maps created in the last 24 hrs or on a certain day.

Clearly, there are many ways we can make searching for maps even better. We'd like to hear from you, our users, about what kind of maps you would search for, and what kind of functionality would be most useful. Thanks for your feedback!

So if you have any ideas, do let them know.
