During the live Q&A with Matt yesterday, one of the questions bound to come up is when is Google updating Toolbar PageRank.
The last Toolbar PageRank update was in January and it has now been 5 months with no PageRank update.
Matt actually answered the question saying expect a PageRank update in the Toolbar really soon. He said likely within days or weeks.
I was a bit sad to hear this, I was hoping Google would continue to downplay PageRank going forward.
In any event, we get this question here at least a few times a day - so I figured I'd just cover it.

PageRank has outlived it's usefulness absent a massive overhaul. Who really uses PageRank for anything, other than SEO types? By those standards Google ought to consider such a public failure and shutter PageRank, I think or alternatively create other ranking data views to help website owners determine rank and some reasoning for such.

Pagerank was also updated at the start of April. I have 4 sites that I started in February, that were all positively affected around the 13th April.

Google should remove the page rank system ! Page rank system is over rated. Blogs with low traffic with high pagerank gets more guest posts than blogs with high traffic and low pagerank. This is clearly a discrimination !

Diappointing to hear Google are not continuing to downplay the toolbar PR - our clients and potential client still don't see the benefit of contextual them based linking they just wan to be on high PR sites and directories!

I'm disappointed as well. We continue to advise our subscriber base to view PageRank from a "novelty" standpoint only. We then share with them the list of PageRank 0 sites that rank at the top of Google all around the Internet.

I agree with the majority on this! Page Rank is not accurate enough in my opinion and quality sites don't get the recognition they deserve

Although I also agree that PageRank is meaningless... I hope my PageRank increases with this update because PageRank is the only thing some advertisers look at. :(

I'm waiting for the page rank update. I have started a bunch of URLs and been working on increasing the backlinks, but they clearly aren't set up SEO or key word wise and not responding. Once their PR gets off ZERO I can on sell them for somebody else to do something use full with them. PR is just one of the ways to prove value of a URL or site. Surely if you are trying to sell advertising, showing the actual traffic is better than quoting PR or number of back links? Anyone want to buy www.magnavi.net, www.forexstock.info, or www.tc-mirror.com?? PR should go up with the next update I promise!

Good for me, My site is just 5 months old and I have fantabulous traffic, my alexa rank is 94000 today (well, AR not acurate). I have page rank "0", may be this is because of my site is launched after last Google Page rank update, hping to get atleast page rank "2" as well as Google site links :), BTW thanks for the update Barry.

Navin i visited your site and its rally great for 5 months old site. Alexa rank is nice and you have great AR but I know that you need more visitors. Youar AR is big only becouse your few visitors per day are webmasters using A Toolbar. For PR you will need more quality backlinks.

I know it appears that the google page rank is everyting, but the quality of your website and the value it brings to the end user is really the most important aspect. Lets face it, unless you're a webmaster, most people don't even know the meaning of a page rank. I expect 2 0r 3 from the update. I created my website in Dec 2010 and had quality backlinks since then. However, pagerank has a little role in search algorithm I think.

Linkway.. Can you provide more info or some source about this updates? In this time my site went from unrated to PR0 and other 2 pages which im visiting often moved on pagerank one down from Pr7 to Pr5 and another I saw from Pr3 to Pr4.

Google really scanning a lot of spamming by doing that thing.Well they are just doing there job and they also want to improve.
