Google Places LogoJade Wang from Google announced in a Google Business Help thread a new feature that was added to the bulk upload tool. Businesses that have a lot of locations and need to maintain their business listings in Google Maps/Local do so with the bulk upload tool.

The bulk upload tool now will now show you a preview of changes that will be made and you will be able to cancel out any changes before they are officially submitted.

The import preview will have:

  • A summary of the total number of locations included in your account prior to upload and the total number of locations in the file being imported.
  • A series of tabs with the type of change your current import will have on your account and the number of locations that will be changed in each. The types of changes that are listed are: new, changed, missing, ignored, and unchanged.

Earlier this month a Places support representative told me that Places accounts are really non existent due to the upcoming Plus migration. He said to instead use to manage my listings. The problem is, most all of our bulk listings from our Places account have not migrated over to Plus Local (only a handful). Based on your article, I'll continue to manage our Places account, but wanted to know if you had any information on the migration of Places to Plus for bulk accounts? Thanks!

I was in and still am in contact with a Google Places representative, he said that the migration will take a while. and there will be duplicates if you have created google+ pages yourself and will take longer longer when you have done bulk updates. still need to update your places account if accounts are not merged successfully. my advice is try to get in contact with a Google Places representative to help you.
