A DigitalPoint Forums thread has an image of Google adding Favorite Icons (favicons) in the site list. I personally do not see them, but here is a picture from the thread:
I am pretty sure this is new, because the favicons are not showing up in my Webmaster Tools console.
What does this do for you? Not much - but it does help you differentiate the sites in the list a bit faster.

It's showing up for me when I log in. I think it looks nice, and it does help you scan the list if you have a lot of sites.

Yes, It does show for me as well. It does helps in differentiate sites when u have long list of sites added in webmaster tools.

I work for a large web design and print agency, they show up in our account and I think that it helps with quicky finding the requested site.

I have over 20 websites on my account and only one of them has the icon.
