A DigitalPoint Forums thread is reporting yet another large PageRank update taking place in the Google Toolbar.
So you know, there already was a PageRank update this month and it is unusual for there to be large PageRank updates twice in a month.
Of course, PageRank is only Toolbar PageRank and it does not officially represent a site's authority and rank, more on that here.
Some suspect that this update is again attacking paid links.
Forum discussion at DigitalPoint Forums.
Update: I posted a longer piece on this at Search Engine Land named Google's PageRank Update Goes After Paid Links?

This should not be a surprise to those of you who sell ads to link brokers, etc and those of you involved with link type schemes. How long have I and a "few" others been warning you about the coming of this?? oh, let's see; about two years now I think. it's about time.

"Google has finnaly leveled the playing field for everyone. There will be better site wiht better content heading to the top for a change." What are you smoking? All this means is there's one less option for a new site to use to market itself. If you think you're going to rank higher because of content, you're high. OnN page content is probably one of the more insignificant factors in where you rank int eh results.

Content can't be king in an internet of Dis-information. How will Google know the truth? devaluing link sales is only to increase googles own adwords market

Frankly I am glad to see it but you must look at the original intent of a search engine. It is to provide specific information to its users. Paid links are just that, paid links. So the sites with lots of cash can really improve their page rank while the poor ones suffer, not right.

PageRank has nothing to do with your website rankings on search engines. So, whether it be Zero or Ten; its just a calculation (which is not even clear) from your back links. But still in consideration of many webmasters and SEOs too.

I hope so, it has been a while now! Got a new site with no page rank, and it is difficult to get links because of this.
