Wired LogoOver the weekend, Wired.com was being blocked by Google via Chrome and the search results for malware.

In short, those trying to access Wired's web site either via Google's Chrome browser or via the search results would be told not to.

Why? There was an iframe malware hack that injected bad things from hxxp://zlu bob.org.

Here is what it looked like when you tried to navigate to Wired using Chrome:

Google Chrome Blocks Wired

A similar message would come up from any browser when you clicked on Wired from Google's search results. And this would also occur in some Firefox browsers, since they use the same source of malware detection as Chrome.

Matt Cutts responded to the issue on HackerNews over the weekend saying:

Looks like it was an actual hack, not just a bad ad. The Wired folks will want to make sure there's no more iframes from hxxp://zlu bob.org. Folks can use our free Fetch as Google tool to see what we see when we try to fetch a page. You can find out more about the Fetch as Google tool here: support.google.com/webmasters/answer/158587?hl=en

Wired even posted it on Twitter but didn't share the hacking details:
