Google: Regular Crawling Not Required For Ranking In Google

There is this SEO myth that more GoogleBot crawler activity translates to more Google organic traffic. That is not always the case. If you have a fairly static site where you web site isn't adding new pages every day, then regular crawling is not a requirement for visibility and ranking in Google says John Mueller of Google.

Of course, if you are a news site or add new content throughout the day, you do want to see regular crawling, espesially of the new pages you added throughout the day. Because that new content is what you want Google to rank ultimately.

John Mueller responded to a tweet on Twitter saying "regular crawling isn't a requirement for visibility or ranking in search." Here is the conversation:

So do not panic if you don't see regular crawling of your web site if you don't change or add new pages regularly to your web site.
