Nick Leroy

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Nick Leroy is 31 years old and lives with his wife and three kids (he has four year old twins) in St Paul, Minnesota. Oh yea, he loves the Minnesota Vikings, so I hope he appreciates the Photoshop job I gave his photo.

Nick Leroy is all over the industry, I mean, all over it - from publishing at Moz to Search Engine Journal, to Medium and his own blog - he really has published his content everywhere. He runs his own newsletter, he is super active in the forums and on social media and he is always eager to help a fellow SEO.

He has been doing the SEO thing for almost a decade now and hasn't slowed down at all. He is a hard worker, family man and just down right a good individual.

Andrew Hagemann nominated Nick and wrote:

Nick is a long time member of the SEO community, writing columns, participating in message boards and sharing SEO news and advice in his weekly newsletter SEO For Lunch.

I appreciate his relentless pursuit of what actually works and not willing to accept the status quo.

Nick Leroy Bio: Nick is the SEO Manager at Ovative/group a measurement and activation agency in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At Ovative Nick helps build and execute comprehensive SEO strategies for enterprise level clients with some clients valued at over 1B. With over 8 years of SEO experience, Nick also shares industry updates and insights via his weekly SEO newsletter. The #SEOForLunch newsletter was created for people making SEO business decisions to stay up to date with the constantly changing search algorithms in a short easy to consume weekly email.

Favorite thing about the SEM community? My favorite thing about the SEO industry is its willingness to test and share results with one another. With no formal SEO training available when I started back in 2009 it was various blogs/newsletters and forums that helped me get a start in an industry that we all enjoy today.

One piece of advice to the SEMs out there? My advice for SEOs contradicts my favorite part of the SEO industry mentioned above. I believe SEOs should always push the limits and test their theories regardless of what others in the industry tell you. With ranking algorithms changing all the time you never know what tactic that wasn't valuable in the past can now offer some sort of value. Always test and only accept your data as the true result.

Favorite things in general? I'm a HUGE Minnesota Vikings fan. We're going to be the first team to play a "home" Super Bowl this year!

What you want to be known for in the SEM space? I would like to be known as someone who always challenges SEO best practices to ensure top performance for my clients sites. In addition, the guy who always take as much time as it takes to teach individuals SEO and the value it provides to their company.
