Over the past few days, before the election, many webmasters were complaining that in their analytics, they were seeing analytics spam for "vote for trump".
Here is a screen shot of the language section in Google Analytics showing the spam that reads "secret.google.com You are invited! Enter only with this ticket URL. Copy it. Vote for Trump!"
Here is a screen shot:
Analytics spam is not uncommon but honestly, it seems like such a waste of effort. Well, Trump did win, no one expected it, maybe the analytics spam gave them the edge? :P
Fellow #SEO you guys seeing this #Trump showing up in mass analytics accounts? @Google @rustybrick @randfish @BrendanVanZile @larrykim today pic.twitter.com/7f6yiabYgt

I saw this on several sites I manage. When visiting the link is says to copy, it takes you to a site that surprisingly wasn’t registered privately and owned by a person in Russia. Here is the details from WhoIs: Admin Name: Vitaly A Popov Admin Organization: Private person Admin Street: Aurory str. 70-141 Admin Postal Code: 443070 Admin Country: RU Admin Phone: +7.9608143259 Admin Email: email@mail.ru The link isn’t exactly, secret.google.com, they used a special character for the g. The actual link is this: Secret.ɢoogle.com. Visit at your own risk.

Vitaly is well known for ghost referral spams. It used to be "ilovevitaly.com" then it was sth along the lines of "google analytics etc". But that crap of his really screws up your overall perception of traffic

Does it cause any harm to SEO or page ranking? And if so, how to fix?

Analytics data doesn't have any effect on SEO/rankings. There isn't real backlink from these "site" so you shouldn't worry about that either. The only thing you should take in consideration is your analytics data. You can preveng most of the spam in GA using a valid hostname filter https://www.ohow.co/ultimate-guide-to-removing-irrelevant-traffic-in-google-analytics/

I was wondering about what is the advantage of spammers to spam your analytics account. I mean, except the fact you read the message they wanted you to read, like Vote for Trump or whatever..

In the past two days (29-30. November) ruined our statistics completely. And it is a nightmare to set up a working View in Analytics.:(((

Tell him to call off the hounds! This is ridiculous, I've been hit with thousands of these views. What's worse is you can't add filters from your account with admin access, it has to be the original GA account.
