On the Google home page today in the United States is a special Google logo, aka Google Doodle, for the 87th birthday of Althea Gibson. She is known by many as one of the greatest tennis players ever but more importantly, she was the first African American to win a Grand Slam title in the sport.

In total, Althea won 11 Grand Slam tournaments and was often compared to Jackie Robinson. Oh, she was also a professional golfer.

She crossed many "color lines" back in the 50s and is being remembered today, on her birthday and ten years after her death on September 28, 2003 by Google.
