Why Did Google Add Solitaire & Tic-Tac-Toe To Search Results?

Google Games

Yesterday Google announced they added two popular games directly to the search results. You can now play solitaire and tic-tac-toe directly in the Google search results. Try it by simply going to Google on desktop or mobile and search for [tic-tac-toe] or [solitaire]. I beat both, but I can't beat tic tac toe on impossible mode. :)

Now, honestly, I don't get why Google is adding this stuff to the search results? Are they doing this because they think many of these cheap game sites on the web are unsafe and want to give you a safe place to play the game or is it just because they can and they like to make a joke of the search results? I hope it is the previous version.

Google did say "these are just a sample of the delightful surprises that await you on Google. After all, Search is for so much more than research and practical matters -- it’s for fun, too!"
