Google Product Search's Product Data Now From Source

The Google Merchant Blog announced that Google Product Search has started to work directly with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain the product descriptions, pictures and specifications directly from the source.

Meaning if someone searches for a Canon S95 camera, the information you will see do not come from the data feeds Google accepts from merchants, but instead would come directly from Canon. Well, Google is not getting it directly from Canon, they are working with a company that get's it from Canon.

Here is a sample product:

Google Product Search Product Data

Google acquires this data from a third-party. Google announced:

We are starting this effort through a business partnership with Edgenet, a provider of product data management solutions. Manufacturers and suppliers can work directly with Edgenet's Ezeedata service to submit high-quality product data and images to Google.
