Mike Blumenthal spotted a new status for businesses in the Google Local panel. Instead of open or closed permanently, there is now a "temporary closed" status for businesses that need to close for some time.

He shared a screen shot of this business:

Google Local Temporary Closed

When I try to edit my business, either through Google My Business or via the suggest an edit, I either get remove listing or mark as permanently closed, not the temporary status.

Mike said this needs to be configured by someone at Google, he said "there is no public facing interface for this and the only way to get this done is to create a post in the Google My Business Forum with full business details and then get a top contributor to escalate the problem." "It requires that the business be closed for more than 2 weeks and that their website clearly supports the closure," he added.

Here is an example on Google Maps Help forums of someone asking for this due to a fire that caused damage to the office and it needs to close to be repaired.
