Google is now dynamically changing the service or business category they show in the local pack next to a business based on the user entered query in the search box. So for example, if you search for [software development] versus [web development], you will see a different business category listed next to my business name in the local pack.

Here is a screen shot of Google showing "software company" next to my business name for my company in the local pack:

Google Local Category One

Here is Google showing "website designer" when I changed the query slightly:

Google Local Category Three

Oh, and we also come up for "internet marketing service":

Google Local Category Two

Sergey Alakov said previously Google only showed the primary category despite the query used.
