In about one month it will be a full two years since the last official Google Penguin update, aka Penguin 3.0. We think Google is close to launching Penguin 4.0, the real time version, because they are working on an announcement for it. But Google estimated launch dates in the past, expecting it to go live late last year and it didn't so they stopped estimating.
Google's Gary Illyes said yesterday that yes, Google does have a date for the Penguin release. He said this on Twitter - here is the tweet:
@rankingbyseo @JohnMu @rustybrick yes

The date may have come and past, so we are not sure if this is anything new. In fact, Gary added that he is sure he said Google had a date before:
@rustybrick @rankingbyseo @JohnMu sure. I said that before many times

Pedro Dias, former Googler, said Google has a date for every launch:
EVERYTHING at Google has a scheduled release date https://t.co/PlWGsUwIOy

Yea, but my big question is what is the new date for Penguin 4.0's launch. No one but those at Google know this.
Even if we did know the date, does it matter? Google can and has pushed off this launch time and time again.
