Google Breadcrumb Snippets Remove Clickable Hyperlink

Google seems to have dropped the feature to click on the breadcrumb links within the search results snippet. For example, here is an image of a snippet in the search results that displays the breadcrumb:

Back at some point in time, clicking on store.apple.com or Apple Store or Shop iPhone would actually take you to the category specific pages versus the landing page of the top/main link in the Google search result.

Google, for some reason, removed that clickable breadcrumb link and now only displays it.

Tim Fisher asked on Twitter if this is new? Truth is, I am not sure.

When did this happen?

Update: Supposedly there was a hack around that forced Google to close down these clickable breadcrumb links. You can learn more about it over here.
