Google has added letters, i.e. A, B & C to the local pack in the Google search results. This way you can quickly identify on the map, where each local business listing is located.

You can see that the letter near the listing shows up on the corresponding map pin letter.
It comes up for many local intent queries for me but some are not showing letters. I am 100% able to replicate this on various queries but for example [barber] doesn't show the letters where as [barbers] does.
John Leo Weber spotted this yesterday on Twitter and I am 100% able to replicate this.
It isn't a major deal but the letter in the listings kind of looks a bit awkward in my opinion.
