Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Google News Down Again
If you go to Google News right now, you may never get there. It is currently down and we have no idea when it will come back online. This comes days after Google tweaked their redesign after the never ending user complaints. This tweak didn't really satisfy everyone, so I wonder if someone got angry and is doing a pretty big DoS attack, but Google show be good at preventing that. Maybe Google tweaked something
  • Google Places (Maps) Reports Delayed
There are complaints at the Google Places Help forum that the reports are delayed and not updated since July 13th, over a week ago. Google Places provides nice reports including impression, queries, actions and so on. But those reports have not been updated for over a week now. Here is a picture of my report: Andrew Baker in the forum, not from Google, said: The freeze on the Google Places dashboard stats does happen from

Sometimes you can find interesting things on Google Maps Street Views. Most recently, I spotted a street view cam falling down but not completely off the car. He posted screen shots of this mishap, notified Google and Google has begun removing

And for the first time, I personally see them matching. Here is a screen shot, side
  • Webmasters Complain Over New Google Image Design
A week before Google announced the launch of the new Image Search design, we spotted it and wrote about it. We even posted detailed pictures of the new image design. Now, yesterday, Google announced it and everyone should see the new design. Before I get into the complaints, watch this quick video on what changed: The main issue from a webmaster perspective, as noted in WebmasterWorld, is that when you click on an image, it
  • Bing Launches New Webmaster Tools, Drops Link Reports
If you login to Bing Webmaster Tools you may notice a large change. The whole thing has been totally redone! The Bing Webmaster Blog currently has no mention of it yet. There is a single person in the Bing Forums who noticed it, and so did @suzukik on Twitter. The three most noticeable changes that you see right away include: Microsot Silverlight is required to see any real data in Bing Webmaster Tools. The reports look
