Bartz Gets A Lesson On Yahoo: Yes, Yahoo Was A Search Company

Aug 10, 2009 - 8:46 am 0 by

The Microsoft & Yahoo deal has been perceived as a very poor deal for Yahoo and has made Yahoo's new CEO, Carol Bartz, look extremely bad on Wall Street and in our community here. There is no doubt that Yahoo has given up on search, no one would argue with that - no one.

But recently, Yahoo's new CEO came out and said, Yahoo has never been a search company. Oh boy did that get her in trouble. I won't go into why she is wrong, Danny Sullivan has done that better than anyone else could have. This has really made Bartz look even worse, she should probably say she was misquoted or misunderstood or something. She needs to pretend she knows Yahoo's history, or else, how can she lead the company?

In any event, the forums are a bit heated over the statement. Just check out WebmasterWorld and see for yourself. People not only blast Bartz, but they also discuss Yahoo's history in search. So it makes for a thread that brings people back to the old days of SEO.
