Anthony Randall

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Anthony Randall is 26 years old and lives in Boise, Idaho. He has a really supportive girlfriend named Hailey who is very supportive of his SEO career. His mother is Julie Joyce, which makes this the first mother / son team being honored here, Julie was honored some time back.

Tony is pretty new to the space but SEO is in his blood. He has been very good about sharing his knowledge and what he learn with the SEO community. He also is active on social media and joining different SEO events. In fact, he has done SEMRush webinars and other industry events in the past.

He was nominated anonymously, that person wrote:

Tony is an absolute no-bullsh*t link builder in the SEO community. He rocks and deserves the nomination!

Anthony Randall Bio: I like rock & roll and kicking Google’s ass. I got my start in SEO at a large link building firm where I built links and promoted content for some huge (and not so huge) brands. Then, I moved on to manage the SEO efforts at a more "boutique" agency where I handled onsite, technical and link building duties as well as managing the team and occasionally client facing. Back then, I worked primarily with niche e-commerce stores, mostly client work but we had a few of our own sites as well that did extremely well too. I guess that role was both in-house and agency now that I think about it. Fast forward to now, I'm kinda just doing my own thing, outranking billion dollar companies by myself from my house.

Favorite thing about the SEM community? The friends I've made, absolutely. I've been invited across the world by these friends. I've been able to quit my job and start my own venture because of these friends. I've had friends turn into clients and clients turn into friends. I've experienced unending support in pretty much everything I've aspired to in this industry. That rocks. You guys rock.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? I'm a rule breaker so I'm going to give like 5 things real quick. First, there are a ton of different things that make up what we stuff together to fit under the SEO umbrella and each of them can easily be a full time job on its own. Be well rounded, absolutely, but also find the part you like the most and specialize. Don't let anyone tell you that if you don't do or like to do a certain task then you're not a real SEO. Don't let anyone tell you that if you don't make a certain amount of money that you're not a good SEO. Form your own opinions and don't just blindly follow advice (pretty much no matter where it's coming from). Build more (good) links.

Favorite things in general? Outside of work, I'm probably thinking about work honestly I'm a big fan of 10 year old Subarus, got 3 of those stupid things. I like snowboarding. I like riding bikes. Favorite color is black, no question.

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? Mostly as a guy who doesn't spew garbage about links. But other than that, I just want to be known as a dude who doesn't take himself too seriously. I like to keep it real and I'm not afraid of a good self-own. I've also been told by multiple people that I'm their favorite person on Twitter, and I'm weirdly proud of that.
