Pinterest Sending Webmasters Lots Of Traffic

Pinterest logoI've been hearing chatter throughout the industry on a new social sharing site, specifically for photos named Pinterest.

A Cre8asite Forum thread has webmasters and SEOs claiming it send a nice number of traffic, when you are featured well on the site. I've personally have not seen much traffic from it, but some sites claim as high as 900 unique visits in a single day - and the site is still in an invite only beta.

One person said:

Yep, had some. Busiest day saw around 900 visits. Been playing with it for a week or two now, interesting to see what sort of images work best.

The SEOs have their sites on this service, it better be careful now.

To see which images of yours were posted to the service, you can do something like this: and replace with your domain.

For more on this service, see

Forum discussion at Cre8asite Forums.

I've been using Pinterest for a  while now, but never witnessed any traffic from it. It probably has to do with sharing on Pins

Anyone have an invite to spare? I'm on the waiting list currently.

OK, so I looked up my blogs. One of them had ca. 15 images pinned, most of them with likes and repins. I looked up the traffic in Woopra where I can find each and every referrer with ease. I looked for the whole year until today. How many visitors did I find? 5 visitors, 4 of them bounces. Of course I assumed something is broken so I tested whether it works by clicking on one of my images. This was my sixth referrer from Pinterest. So unless all the other people used Pinterest with SSL the hype is utter bullshit. I get much more more traffic from other image bookmarking sites like or Weheartit btw. but it's still not much. I guess less than one in twenty to fifty image bookmarkers view the source.

Of course, pinterest is the innovative social photo sharing network these days and it has been used by women than men as per the recent survey.

I think this is really a great tool to get traffic with a proper way to do it. I think we need some expert to explain this thing.
