Google Mark Twain LogoGoogle has a wonderful logo today, November 30th, for the 176th birthday of Mark Twain.

He was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri and died at the age of 74 on April 21, 1910 in Redding, Connecticut. His real name is Samuel Langhorne Clemens and he was very well known for his writings. His most popular works are Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

The Google logo featured the Tom Sawyer book. Here is the full size shrunk down:

Danny Sullivan walks you through the three scenes of this logo at Search Engine Land.

Google's Inside Book Search Blog goes a bit deeper into it.

This is Google's first full width logo, as far as I can remember. And there seems to be no Google + icon to share it.
