black ribbonMarcia, a personality many of you may remember from the various forums, including WebmasterWorld and many other SEO forums, has passed away earlier this week.

Her daughter, Samantha, posted the news in the WebmasterWorld forums, informing the community of her passing on "Monday, July 7, 2014, in her home, sometime between 1am PST and 10am PST."

She said Marcia "suffered from COPD and emphysema and had been struggling for the past several years. In the last years of her life, she was unable to make it to her computer." Her last post at WebmasterWorld was on February 4, 2012 in this thread. She has contributed over 12,000 posts at WebmasterWorld and served as an administrator for a period of time.

We've covered her wisdom here several times and we will deeply miss her.

Samantha wrote:

Throughout the years, she spoke fondly of many folks here at WebmasterWorld. I know she dedicated a lot of time and energy to the forums and had a passion for Search Engine Optimization and reading Google patents.

Being that once upon a time, she had a substantial presence here, I thought it the right thing to do to make this post.

I am flying from Austin to Los Angeles this afternoon to handle her affairs.

Thank you all for the brightness, laughter, and conversation you brought into my mom's life.

Here is a tweet from Roger who knew her well:

Wow. Marcia is a name from the past. She joined up 3 months after me in Sept of 2000, I remember looking forward to her posts and learned a great deal from her time @ WmW. She used to hold down the Google Dance threads and maintain order. Anyone that dates back to early 2000 in this SEO world of ours owes her a little something for the work she put in. RIP
