Search Spammers Admit Defeat After Spam Algorithm But Vow To Return

Jun 17, 2013 • 9:00 am | comments (26) by twitter Google+ | Filed Under Google PageRank & Algorithm Updates

Google White FlagLast Wednesday Google released the spam algorithm to target very spammy niches and "illegal" link building and spamming techniques. Did it work?

For the most part, it seems it did. Despite some black hats mocking Matt Cutts, it seems most of the black hatters in that niche are complaining and admitting defeat.

A BlackHatWorld thread has several saying they are hit by this update. Here are some quote.

Seems Matt cutts has been true to his words... first page which was once full of "black hat methods" ranked sites for "payday loans" is now pretty much cleared up...

i managed to rank 2nd and 8th on page one a few days ago, i lasted 8 hours, then was totally sandboxed...

Others explained that while whatever was working in the past, they will have to adapt to get their sites to work in the future.

Not dead at all.

Will just take longer than a few hours this time round.

The question also being asked in the thread is what other keyword phrases impacted by this update. It is not just payday loans, it is likely pornographic terms, casino terms and others.

As a side note, there is another thread started the same say as the payday update, where SAPE link users are claiming they were hit. Not all, but many. Maybe they were in those spammy niches? Wasn't SAPE links penalized? Yea but I guess maybe not all of those links?

So while some blackhats may give up, the good ones won't.

Doing a lot of BHW reporting these days Barry. It is something new. BHW is ok but the real black hat stuff happens else where.

It is a public forum and the content is interesting at times. :)

It is more often funny than serious. I go there for a laugh. It is like the Digital point of Black Hat.

Give me a public black hat forum I can use. I only cover things that are public. I never cover private forums or convos.

I don't hang out at BH boards much either but Blackhat ninjas were much more BH in the day until the owners turned on each other. They used to hack BHW every 2 weeks or so just for fun. all the big players have disappeared into private boards now. BHW is fun to watch they don't get much done their though. except sell each fiverr gigs with a 2cent mark up.

Yep, figured. BH do not talk much in public forums. I work with what I got.

Wait so you claim they gave up but disregard the instance when google still fails? The only thing Matt did was kill off the GSA newbs and hopefully it stays that way.Let them get paper routes.

Not sure what are "Search Spammers". I know SEARCH and I know SPAMMERS, but when combined??

06/17/2013 04:28 pm

Seems like the Rollout has not started in Germany yet. There is a Domain that ranks for each "Casino" term, including the main keyword "Casino" and is using BH methods.

I bet you are Alan from WF!

It doesn't matter if Blackhats are admitting defeat (which they're obviously not): The last 10 months have ruined a massive amount of whitehat businesses caught in the crossfire. That's like solving internet-piracy by poisoning the population's water supply.

How is it defeat when the results for payday loans are now none relevant and extremely bad than compared to last week?

Don't give Google ideas

06/17/2013 10:31 pm

That is exactly what is happening - Google is sacrificing relevancy just to reduce spam. This is really why I like it when black hatters stick it to Google.

06/18/2013 03:09 am

Google is more interested in ruining whitehat businesses than blackhat businesses because it makes them money to do so. Black hats rarely to never use adwords. Whitehats will! Make more sense to make life hard for the whitehats who have the potnetial to spend more.

It is now worse than ever. Two days and it's hacked, cloaked and spammed into oblivion. google dot co dot uk "payday loans". There are many other industries that look the same. No, it did not work. It stepped on the tiger's tail.

Have a loan fellas. You can get it from a publishing association now. Fancy that!

06/18/2013 08:51 am

So finally there is dead end to pay day loans related online marketing business.

06/18/2013 12:51 pm

as i checked, there are still few results in top 10, which is totally spam and using black hat techniques.

06/18/2013 02:23 pm

Have to disagree with you there. Blackhatters tend to go after the most lucrative and profitable niches. It's these niches that yield huge profits for Google from adwords. Do you think that nobody is bidding on "payday loans"!? Of course they are. Google make money no matter what ranks organically, blackhat or otherwise.
