Google Places LogoGoogle Places is continually undergoing revamps and at the same time, is continually having technical issues.

The good news first. It appears that Google has redesigned the Google Places landing page once again. Here is the new look:

But there are also some issues, many still lingering on, but this one is a new one. The dashboard statistics have stopped updating as of February 18th, yep 17 days ago. Brianna from the Google Maps team said in a Google Places Help thread:

We are aware that dashboard statistics for listings have not been updated since February 18. We are actively working to re-populate data for dates since February 18. Thanks for your patience

Has yours updated yet?

Barry, Ours stopped reporting quite some time ago (mid-late January, IIRC). We were also seeing instances of, say, "5 actions from 0 impressions". I emailed David Mihm and our consensus was to basically ignore Google Places' reporting. Shame, because its a great tool - the marketing intelligence is just awful. Hopefully they finally set up GA integration one day soon.

I encountered this on some of our local sites - thanks for clarifying. Derek Jansen

Hey Barry, I'm having problems verifying my updated Places page. I initially had made some changes to the phone # but now receive the dreaded System Error We're sorry. It seems there are a bunch of people as of 3/7 that has been experiencing this as well. Sigh.

Google places is a mess, businesses that don't even exist, rank higher than sites that have full diclosure images and videos. I hear all the BS well you need to do this or that it's a flawed system and it doesn't work, especially when a company has not set up their places page or even has a web site and they rank on 1st page that's garbage.
