Google Disavow Link ToolThe Google Disavow Link Tool launched exactly 30 days ago and many webmasters have been eagerly awaiting the tool.

So I wanted to know, have you guys used it yet?

I personally have not but I wanted to know if you guys tried it on a site yet.

Please take the poll below and have your SEO friends take the poll as well:

Note: I am not asking if you used it and it worked. I'll follow up in a few weeks with a new poll asking if you used it and it worked. Right now, I want to know if you used it or are planning on using it really soon.

We've heard stories that the tool doesn't work but I think it is too early to tell yet.

Please share this poll with your friends.

Yes, I have used it and shared in my blog post - http://seobestpractices.co.uk/google-penalty-reconsideration/

I'm sure that any submissions will be factored in more in future updates.

I am surprised at how many people say they will be using it. I guessed the result would be around 5%, not 50%.

Yep, used the day after it was launched, 3 weeks ago already right? Yoy are right, it doesn't work for anything, it doesn't help Wevmasters, it only helps Google to get more data about you and your sites.

Used immediately, with no results at all so far. GWT shows very outdated link information anyway (like links from sites that do not exist for more than 3 months still there), so I cannot be sure if the tool worked or not. I saw some (little) positive changes in traffic, but it could be caused by tons of other factors, including recent Panda updates.

Has anyone successfully removed a manual penalty using the disavow tool and sending reconisderation? Please share some success stories as I don't see many.....

Completely agree, I would imagine that the majority of people that did use it, did not need to, and the net benefit was zero or negative.

Your problem seems to be that you used it the day after it was launched. You could not have made any real effort in getting the links removed before you attempted the disavow. Even if you had less than ten links, you could not have reached out to the corresponding webmasters, waited for their reply/lack of reply, sent out some more outreach, waited some more and organize a detailed account of your attempts to remove the offending links before submitting. I feel for those who got steam rolled by various algo changes when they were participating in, what had been, 'legitimate' SEO practices. I feel for those people who got screwed by shady SEOs or those who found themselves caught up in the dragnet due to a lack of information. I do not, however, feel for those people who wallow in their own ignorance and complain about how unjust the whole thing is, like Mr. WhoCares up there. Simply put: If you submitted a disavow the day after it was launched and three weeks later still do not understand why nothing has changed then you are the problem, not the disavow tool. What's worse is that you are here complaining about how the tool does nothing and how it's nothing but a data mine. Does the tool work? Maybe, maybe not...that is still to be determined, but come on man...really?

And forgive me for assuming you haven't attempted to get these links removed prior to the announcement of the tool and have had an account of those actions all handy and ready to go. If I am wrong then I shall eat some humble pie.

FYI, it was used to disavow a negative SEO campaign of porn links, efforts were made prior and specified in the disavow file, but AW I'm not going to waste my time giving explanations to an idiot that judges without knowing the whole situation and who no one asked his opinion.

Hey man, I said I would eat some pie. I am eating it.

There is something worse than complaining about a tool that does nothing, a tool complaining about someone who is complaining about a tool. At least no 'grammatical/ spelling errors' have been highlighted because they are boring to read too.

Used it the day it was released and submitted a reconsideration request a few days later and just received a manual penalty revoked message.

Thank you Disavow Tool

Used it to combat automated negative seo linking campaigns, then I filed a re-consideration request and I'm currently ranking on page 1 again.

"Thank you Disavow Tool" - how long ago did you receive the "manual penalty revoked" message?
