Google Logo in 1998A couple weeks ago, Google's Matt Cutts shared on Google+ a way to see the old 1998 search results on Google.

Google made this easter egg on their 15th birthday to show people how far Google has come.

When you Google [google in 1998] you see the old Google results for the search result, Google.

Pretty fun!

I'd like to see the results for my KWs back in '98.

'Try you query on Altavists etc' - at bottom of page. Now that's what government legislation should force all Search Engines to include.

LOL drop down has 300 results for front page. Wonder what that would do to the bottom line if they implemented it now

I think they should revert back, it's much less clustered and they are actually organic results rather than everything above the fold being paid advertising.

Wow, that lead me down a dark path into the depths of SEO history. Start clicking around, takes you to places you've never likely been. Example a (perhaps the moment Google tips the scales on search dominance): http://web.archive.org/web/20000520053525/http://www.searchenginewatch.com/reports/sizes.html

I very much agree with you. I wish Google could put the organic results first before the paid ads.
