Bing HTML5Bing is expected to launch the much touted HTML5 version of their search interface really soon.

WinRumors expects it might be sometime around the launch of Internet Explorer 9, which may be around March 24th.

We know 80% plus are looking forward to the new Bing HTML5 interface.

The Bing Preview page at bing.com/peek is now currently blank, although the other day it cited changes and screen shots.

Features coming in the HTML5 version include:

  • Animated background images for the core Bing search page.
  • Instant search results.
  • Smooth search history navigation.
  • Automatic slideshow creation for media searches.
  • "Hover window" previews of sites.

I watched a video showing all about it yesterday. Very cool. Let's see...ah yes, it was at http://www.rhinoseo.com/blog/2011/03/08/the-new-bing-looks-very-promising/ . I left a comment there but it's awaiting moderation, but what I said was, "I guess my question would be … will the new Bing work like this ONLY on IE9? Or will it also work this way on any modern browser that can handle HTML5, CSS3, etc.?" I wondered because the video implies that the new features are tied to IE9 but I thought that might only be because IE9 would finally have some capabilities that other browsers already have.
