Minor Google Ranking Update (September 2010)?

Sep 27, 2010 • 8:26 am | comments (4) by twitter Google+ | Filed Under Google Search Engine Optimization

There are a bunch of random threads in the Google Webmaster Help Forums as well as two WebmasterWorld discussion ranking changes.

The ranking changes may be specific to a subset of sites or a larger but still not major ranking algorithm change.

Some say the ranking changes are only in Google UK but others are saying it is specific site penalties.

I'm in the UK and I've seen some of my sites drop too today, I suspect a shake-up. In my experience it sometimes settles back to normal after a day or two, here's hoping!

Honestly, it is way to early to make any assumptions based on forum discussions right now. But I figured I see if anyone else has noticed anything recently?

No ranking changes here in the UK that I can see. I think it could be specific to those sites due to their own activity.

Just normal serp fluctuations, nothing specific in the UK results are being observed in the last few days, as you rightly said its just forum assumptions at the moment most likely due to the reply above.

Yep, I have noted some fairly big fluxing today, my site has been promonant at the top of google for my keyprhases 'machine tools' and 'cnc lathes' for sometime, today its 4th and 5th respectively and most other prhases have dived to, I am interested to know why. Any comments appreciated
