Some Reports of September 2010 Google PageRank Update

Sep 14, 2010 • 9:01 am | comments (34) by twitter Google+ | Filed Under Google PageRank & Algorithm Updates

There are some, not wide spread reports, of a Google PageRank update at WebmasterWorld and DigitalPoint Forums. Not everyone is agreeing on this, but there are enough people saying their PageRank values in the Google Toolbar has changed.

Some are saying they see gray bars and some are saying their PageRank is up or down a point. The last PageRank update we had was in July 2010, so I believe we are due an update now.

This may be a minor PageRank update and again, minor or not, what you see in the Google Toolbar has zero impact on where you rank in Google.

I am still waiting for PR update, as I have not seen any major changes in my list of domains. Although it was expected that pr update will occur in month of September, but it was small update..

It seems to be updates on internal pages. The major update has not happened yet.

We've noticed it on a couple of client sites too. I'm not too bothered by PR updates now, it can be interesting to see if there are any big jumps and it is a (very) rough indicator of popularity, but I'd rather Google switched the toolbar off completely. It's become a vanity thing for some people and as the post mentioned it doesn't really have any correlation with rankings - i.e you can have a low PR page outrank a high PR page. If Google disabled the toolbar I think it would also go a long way to stopping paid links. However it would probably just evolve to put more emphasis on buying themed links, rather than just 'high PR' ones.

Maybe Google decided PageRank is not what it expected it to be (since with little knowledge anyone can get 3 or above PR in three months (by the PR update) and stopped updating PR??

I've seen some N/A to PR0 but nothing else. And the rankings change daily, as seen on GWT. Some interesting things taking place in G, though.

Does anyone know why there hasn't been an update since April?

I know why there hasn't been an update since April...easy, the toolbar pagerank isn't going to be updated again. The only updates are for the winners of the minor pagerank lottery. I'd love to know where to get a ticket, but I think I have better luck in my state's lottery.

I haven't seen any significant change in my PR since April, although quite a few of my new pages went from n/a to pr 0.

I've had a site running for over 8 months now and have never done any black hat SEO or tied to a link farm, etc. and I still have a pagerank of zero. I am still not even showing up as indexed by Google. I gave up on Google and focus on Yahoo! I keep my site hovering between page two and four on Yahoo! waiting for a little closer to springtime to give the upheaval push to get on the first page(two word search phrase at that). I didn't pay for the Yahoo! listing. My slow, churning SEO put me there. Google always has folks in their "webmaster" forums that would lick the toilets after Google's CEO's. There's no talking to them or airing any greivance. If Google skips you then ignores your inquiries as to why...you are pretty much screwed. And, no matter how you try to show that you just have a plain, old ordinary e-commerce site with proper meta tags, etc. and that any continual sandboxing should be corrected...well, you'll just get remedial suggestions and be shrugged off just like if you try to get help in a Microsoft forum. I'm convinced that they do not have their crap together at Google nearly as much as they say they do.

In 02-03 April 2010 was a big update of PageRank all over the world. In the mean time, Google updated (minor updates) some websites in june and september 2010. It is being anounced another big apdating in first days of 2011 - we will see that in a short time...

No offense, but $32,000 from an affiliate network for 1 month in the form of western union is straight up B*LL SH*T!! This is why he's on a 0 PR nofollow SEO comment page looking for info for PR updates, right? Oh yeah, don't forget to do a plug for that pipe dream!!

As a matter of fact, the Google PageRank does not affect substantially a webiste's positioning in SERPs, more likely he follows some indicators like TrustRank and MozRank, PR it is deprecated at this moment..
